Well this is it, tonight we go. Has been a long time coming and i think we're both pretty excited.
Big thanks for all the emails and encouraging comments, its really nice to hear from everyone. Lots of people have asked about the route we plan to take so here's the plan.... Sail north, north east from PR up past Bermuda to about 40deg Nth, then turn and head for the Azores. While this is a longer route we hope to get some good winds and currents from the gulf stream.
We will try and radio big ships (if we see any) on the VHF and hopefully they can email our position to the oldman, so if anyones interested perhaps try contacting him to see where we're at. Hendrik's email is vanderh@ihug.co.nz
Right on, will write next from the Azores

Good luck boys and surf those waves in the Double Bruyn, travel safe, have a fantastic journey and enjoy. I envy your courage and spirit, good on you and more strength to you.
Keep safe and God Bless
Cheers Sven & Nora
PS hope the Double Bruyn isn't overloaded with Double Brown if so take easy on them and dont over do it on them don't drink and sail
Dont drink all that ballast! Catch you when you get settled in there. Or If I get sick of Alaska, I will meet you in the Azores.
Hi dear Bruyns!
I am afraid that we are a bit late wishing you a lot of good luck on your trip to Europe, but maybe you read the well wishing somewhere, who knows.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you two, and mum and dad in Europe, safe and with lots of experiences that are entirely unique. It is quite something what you are doing; we will hear everything in August?
Good luck boys!

I am holding my breath.
Que les vayan con suerte y con todo mi amor...

Hi everyone, Today I got an email from a ship close to the Doublebruyn, saying that J.& P. are fine and the potition is:
40deg 6min N and 39 deg 24min W.
Looking at www.buoyweather.com the wind is NNW 11 to 15 knots , so couldn't be much better and if everything goes ok they could be at the Azores by next weekend, roughly another 800n.m. Absolutely marvellous, regards HJ
Hi Bruyn brothers!
We heard from dad that you have arrived at Floris. We have your telephonenumber, so we will try to call you tonight. Would be nice to see you soon in Europe, Valencia, Amsterdam, London? You name it!
Lets keep our fingers crossed for NZ to win the World Cup!
All the best, Graham and Joke
