In the drink

'
'Pirate training' with english Nic in Fort Lauderdale

Some happy chappy's ready to launch

Well we finally got our dam boat in the water! We bought this boat 5 weeks ago and took it out of the water to inspect the bottom (only thought it would take an hour) - since then its just been one thing after another. The fuel system, steering, engine, deck leaks etc etc etc. So much work... Considering we both thought we'd just buy a boat and leave a few days later this certainly brought us back down to earth.

Now we've pretty much got the boat ready and plan to leave Port Canaveral within the next week. We're both so rapt with the boat and can't wait to take it sailing, has been really frustrating 2 months!

After here its a 200mile sail south to West Palm beach or Fort Lauderdale, and then we'll head off to the Abaco's in the Bahamas.

Ho ho me hearties – although with all that beer in the photo (stocking up on essentials I see!) perhaps you are now farties! At my ripe old age, this is my first ‘blog’, so not sure who views all the comments and the ‘blog’ etiquette???? Anyway, lovely to hear from you both and absolutely fantastic to read and see the trip as it takes shape. Suffice to say we are all very envious and would love to be doing what you all are doing. I love the name of the boat! West Palm Beach is my old stomping ground and Ft Lauderdale your Uncle Ian’s, so we can imagine your relaxed lifestyle and good old Kiwi approach to the US Coastguard.

Calm seas and look forward to reading all about the trip. Stay safe. Lots of love from us all to you both (three if Pete is still there?)Auntie Catherine xxx

Gentlemen, you are in for an adventure. Enjoy the beer but don't get so drunk that you hit a freight liner! ha ha. Keep us updated on your progress and maybe you will be racing next year. Wow, I am still amazed that you are actually doing this trip. Crazy.

We met the captian of NZ12 AMERICAS CUP BOAT and he took us sailing today and then came to my boat and tunned my rig. How about them apples. We are standing by on channel 16 most of the time. hope to catch you guys soon. We will trot down the exumas till Georgetown by the end of the month. Happy sailing.

Hi dear nephews,

great difficulty how to use this blog, not because of the blog, but because of my age I am afraid (running towards my retirement!)And I see I will have to register too, so I don't know whether you will ever receive this mail.
Lovely to see all the photographs and knowing you are both safe and happy. Graham and I hope to see you in August, maybe in Valencia. End of April we will be looking for a house in the South of France, so who knows we might be able to receive you there in stead of in cold and rainy Netherlands.
Great to see a picture of your boat at last. Interesting name of your boat, feel related to it.
Have a good time and we go on following you on the blog and via mum and dad.
Keep safe Joke and Graham
